It's been a minute! I haven't really done a lot lately, so I haven't really had anything to write about. Mostly I've just been writing fanfiction, and working on uploading my backlog of fanfiction to AO3, which takes a while. Especially when I just keep writing more, so I never seem to catch up.
Speaking of fanfiction, I actually managed to finish a series I started last year, because my hyperfixation on Hazbin Hotel came back once season two came out. I've been writing a lot of Hazbin fanfic, especially Angel Dust x Lucifer (though the series I finished was Angel x Husk x Lucifer). They're currently the most written ship on my AO3 pseud. I may have at least 10 more incoming, since I decided to do the dreamwidth challenge '15 kisses'. I've currently uploaded five. The one I planned on being smut ended up not being that, while a part I had planned to just be suggestive ended up as full-blown porn. Oops. I love writing them, though.
I got the CD with Hazbin Hotel's season two soundtrack recently. I'm glad they released it on CD this time. They also released it on vinyl and casette tape, but I went with the CD this time around. Admittedly, I'm tempted to get them on casette too, cus I love casette tape cases. They're really cute. But. While I have a casette player, I'm not actually sure it works, so I'll hold off on that one.
So, yule passed.
Me and Tofi made cherry jam as gifts for our family. We've never made jam before, so it was a bit of an adventure, especially since we didn't know if it turned out well until it'd gotten cold. But it did! The flavour was very strong, you could definitely taste the cherries.
The cherries were from the trees off the farm too, so talk about home-made.
As usual, I didn't particularly enjoy the celebration part. I never have, I mostly just feel out of place. At least this year I didn't feel like shit, physically, the way I have the last two years (flu 2023, migraine 2024), so that's something, at least.
Tofi gave me the second volume of The guy she was Interested in wasn't a guy at all aka Green Yuri as a present, which is exciting! Apparently he'd gone snooping in my bookshelf to make sure I hadn't bought it myself yet, since he knew I owned volume one.
I was very happy with that! I've been reading the web comic for ages, so it's exciting to be able to finally hold it in my hands.
As for me, I actually decided to make phone charms for Tofi and my friend Ren (and for myself). Which means, I tried out drawing again.
It went okay!
After my hands got fucked up early this year, I've barely been able to draw at all, and when I tried it's been too painful to hold the pen for very long, which made me scared to try again.
But I really wanted to make those phone charms, and they were a small enough project that I thought I could be okay. And I was. I did have to take it very slow, and I'm going to have to change the way I colour and shade images, but for something tiny like this, I was fine!
I drew Niffty for Tofi, Angel Dust for Ren, and Angel, Husk and Lucifer for myself, cus I am a sucker for AppleHuskerDust, and Niffty and Angel are Tofi and Ren's favourites, respectively. So even though I only photographed one Angel phone charm, know that there are actually two of them. The other one is currently wrapped until the next time I see Ren.
I also made an angel!Lucifer, cus I love giving pre-fall Lucifer wing ears. Didn't have enough of the little phone charm strings though, so I can't use him yet.
To fill in the rest of the space on the shrinkydink paper I also added a couple of my older drawings, and the colouring I've made of Takeuchi from his character profile at the end of the last volume.
Speaking of changing the way I draw, the main part is how I shade. I usually use a watercolour brush to shade with, but you gotta use quite a lot of pressure to use it, so I'm going to have to switch to using the airbrush tool, since that takes much less of it. These little things didn't require that much shading, so I haven't done it a lot, but I think I could get used to it.
I'll need to get used to it, regardless. I'm gonna have to be very careful with my hands for a long time now, since the doctors still haven't found out what their problem is, so I'm stuck just waiting and hoping for the best.
A thing that's making my healing take longer though, is that I have hyper-mobile thumbs, apparently (took the chance to ask about what the hell is up with them now that I've been to the clinic so much). By which I mean, they bend in the socket in ways they're not supposed to, especially my left thumb, which is extra annoying since I'm left-handed. And the hand support things I got to help my hands made my thumbs worse, and the things that were supposed to help my thumbs hurt the rest of my hands. My two hand problems were literally working against each other. Never mind that I only know what one of the problems are in the first place (thumbs).
The only thing I can wear are carpal tunnel braces when I sleep, they don't seem to hurt me more than everything else does. They do make sure that my wrists don't get bent too much, cus while they're not hyper mobile, they do apparently bend farther than they should. I've been told I'm not allowed to crack my wrists anymore either, which is frustrating cus I used to do it a lot. It relaxed them! But apparently it's supposed to be bad for me.
On to the obligatory cat pics!
Kalma really likes napping on the piano stool, and I finally managed to catch Njord on camera when she reaches out to pet me back. She likes to cuddle a lot, and will often reach out to pat my face back, since I do it so much for her.
Njord hates the braces I sleep in, I can't tuck my hand into her armpits the way she likes me to when I wear them.
This afternoon, little brother and his sambo dropped by and we played Wingspan. Kalma decided the lid was a great place to sit for a couple of minutes.
It's only my second time playing the game, and I went all in on collecting eggs, remembering to do it in the right spots too (there are a lot of places you can earn points in this game) and somehow I won, with a few points ahead of second place! So that's exciting. I rarely win at these things.
I also started watching Columbo recently. I'm enjoying it so far, though I've had to watch some on mute, cus they decided to have a full 1:50 minutes of someone typing on a typewriter as a background sound, which my brain could not handle. But, yeah, enjoying it so far.
This is probably gonna be the last entry for the year, so I'll see you in 2026!
Earlier this week I got a Sonico figure in the mail, and got to take pictures of her today, now that I have a little bit of light. Well. It's already dark out now, and the sky's been blanketed by clouds all day, but it gave me more light to work with than having to rely just on artificial light.
It's the Winter Memory figure by FuRyu!
I've been thinking about this figure since before it came out, I think it came out for preorder about a year ago, maybe a bit longer?
A lot of Sonico figures go for pretty reasonable prices second hand so I decided to wait to get her. Ignoring the wedding figure that I desperately want but uuuuh. She goes for a pretty penny so IDK if that's gonna happen. I didn't think this figure was gonna jump that much in price though, like some of her figures have done, so I thought it'd be safe to wait a while.
Her face is so cute. It's so soft-looking. Her lips are such a gentle shade of pink.
I like the sweater dress even though they made her ass pretty much vaccuum sealed. Poor girl has a wedgie underneath that dress, I'm sure. The front makes it look like she's wearing a romper though, when she's clearly not. I think the dress was sculpted a tiny bit too close there.
Her nails are a pale peachy pink that reminds me of a nail polish I use myself a lot, though mine is shimmery. Similar shade though.
When I got my last Sonico figure a couple of years ago (the motorcycle figure) I loved her more vibrant hair and blue in her hair, which seems to, rather than be a permantent change, be her having canonically dyed her hair.
This figure has a little bit of blue left in it, kind of in a patchy way, which makes me think of how hairdye will fade on me too. I do think they could've painted it more eavenly though, I think it'd have looked cuter. It looks more gray than blue though.
Is she dyeing her eyebrows instead, now? They're a lot darker than they used to be. They're practically cerise.
Her purse is detachable, so I made sure to put her on a shelf that my cats (read: Njord) don't care about so they doesn't shove her and make it go missing. Her phone case is the same tiger as the tiger on her original anime design's shirt.
I'm happy to have her in my collection.
