It's been a full month sine I properly updated, but I have a progress report on my arm! Well, kinda.
Turns out it was misplaced nerves (that's totally the medical term for it) and overexertion. I had a guy move my nerves around in my hands and arms (painful as fuck), and now I don't have pain in my entire arms anymore. So what's left is the overexertion to wait out.
I've started to draw a tiny bit again, cus I've been going crazy and depression has been fucking me up due to my inability to create things. I think I need to figure out a coping strategy for if I ever become unable to create anything for an extended period of time, cus at the moment I don't really have one.
I feel like this chicken looks.
In different news, I finally got my order from Sharkrobot! Verosika is now sitting safely inside my phone case. I framed my Fizzarozzie stickers, and gave the Stolitz one to my friend Ren. Not sure what to do with the Loona or the M&M one yet.
For the most part I've just been working all month. It ensures my hands take longer to heal, but it's still going forward and getting better.
Usually this time of year I go to a convention, but this year Ididn't, since I drive there and I can't drive for that long right now. I'm saving up my hands to ensure that I can go to Närcon at the end of July instead.
So instead I went to Retromania, cus this year it was the same weekend as the con, but it's more local to me. This year I only went as a visitor, along with a few friends. It was fun, had I known there'd be a lot more cosplayers this year athan last I would have dressed up.
A lot of them were Star Wars and Marvel, but there was a Link (Breath of the Wild version), some Genshin Impact, a furry and a few more. I'm bad at getting pictures though. I need to get better at that.
Saw a big fat-screen TV for sale. Too bad it wasn't pink. I didn't know there were Bamse-video games. I'd expect maybe computer games but not for anything else.
I found a video game I was specifically looking for (Last Window: The Secret of Cape West) but it was unopened so it was 1300 kronor. A bit of a bummer but I'll find it at a better price eventually. I'm tracking the listings on ebay for now.
Unsurprisingly, I bought a few video games. I can now finally play Final Fantasy X, I have both parts! The Peach game was expensive but I got it for a little less than the 500 it was listed for haha. I got it for 450. And now I can play Bayonetta! Well, not now, my hands only allow very slow-paced games, like Zero Escape's novel parts where I can just hit play. I'm 27 hours into my replay of the game, I think. Maybe 28. The save file corrupted and I had to start over. Don't save in the puzzle rooms, people. I also got some lil cute joycon covers that look like Kirby.
Kalma helped me out take the photos. He was very in my face the whole time. The phone charm is from Akara's Wish. I've been considering buying it through their etsy store, but to my surprise they had a table at Retromania! The red little lantern baby was a second hand item bought from Akara as well.
Considering I've been carrying around my 3DS as a step counter for a while, and the theme of the event (retro stuff), it was a no-brainer to bring my 3DS with me. I ran into 8 different people who'd also brought their own. Two of them even came with gifts for Nintendogs too, so I got some in-game stuff from it! And one of them had two pieces from a puzzle I didn't have (it was a Kirby one). I got like 5km worth of steps from the event, didn't have to go for a walk after or anything.
We had sushi after, it was delicious.
Unrelated, I read 1984 this month. It felt topical and I remember liking Animal Farm when I read it about a decade ago. Very depressing read. It's the first book I've managed to finish (not counting manga and fanfiction, if you count those I've still done a lot of reading AND writing) since I got burnt out over 3 years ago. I started reading another book that's gonna get very sad later on now too, very good on my part, what with my depression acting up recently. It's about the impact AIDS had on Stockholm's gay scene. You can imagine it's going to get pretty heavy.
That's about it for what I've got this time. Now I'm gonna go call Ren for our weekly scheduled phone call!
Soooo it's been a while since I updated my site with... anything, really.
Turns out that the day after my last diary entry my hands fully gave up. I'm in the process of seeing if it's anything specific or if they're just so extremely worn out that I just. can't draw, sew, knit, use the computer or play video games for very long. They're getting a little better, but it's a very slow process. My IRL job isn't that easy on my hands, so that definitely helps drawing out any healing time. Surprisingly I've been able to do my poledancing classes with only minimal stuff that I can't fully do though, at least there's that! Very happy about that, actually, I think it's a lot of fun.
Njord is definitely mad at the hand bracers I've been wearing to bed though, cus I can't cuddle her the way she likes. Can't really tuck my hand up into her armpits with them on lol. Poor kitty-cat.
I managed to doodle a tiny bit yesterday though! So clearly I'm better from where I was last month.
At this point I should probably just make the blue balloon dog my vtuber model's mascot. What should I name it though? The tongue/mouth was a test, I think I'll stick to no mouth on them. Might give them a tongue sometimes though, just like a lil. Skinny long one. Like confetti strings.
In February I watched Loke Nyberg have a short live on facebook (the first time I've tried to view a facebook live lol, I haven't really used FB since the... late 2000s, I think), and he sold his book at a reduced price only while the live lasted, and I'd been wanting it anyway, so... I got it. It arrived sometime mid February. Call it FOMO.
It's signed! Covered my name though, you're not getting my real name lol. Covering it with my knitting needle measurer. =P Added a photo of one of my favourite songs by Loke, Freaks och original. I'm so happy my friend Ren introduced me to his music way back in high school.
I haven't been able to play a lot of video games, but I've been playing a lil bit of Tomodachi Life recently (and fed my dog and cat in Nintendogs + cats), and bought a game called Hotel Dusk: Room 215. You can see it was a while ago since the previous owner last played the game. As long as I avoid the mini games in Tomodachi life I do ok, and I play nintendogs for like. 5 minutes a day. I've only played chapter 1 of Hotel Dusk so far, but it's really fun so far. I love Louis.
I actually bought the game cus of some fanart I saw from the game, by someone I've been following since back when I was really into My Hero Academia. They're called black-and-yellow on tumblr. It took me a couple of months to chase down the game, so I don't remember exactly what they posted about it though, and I decided to wait with checking on it again until I'm done with the game in case there's spoilers.
As for Tomodachi Life, I only know Natsuru from Kämpfer through roleplaying on livejournal, I've never actually seen the anime. If I remember correctly the character I played in a game ended up dating Natsuru and some Dangan Ronpa character? They were in a lil polycule. I haven't watched/played Dangan Ronpa either.
I played Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes with Tofi on our birthday, but we sure blew up a Lot of times despite doing a lot of yabbering. Well, I did, since I was the one doing the disarming. Also if you like Hello Kitty, I played a little bit of Hello Kitty Birthday Adventures, and it was fun. It's one of the games I bought at RetroMania last year. It's really cute.
But hey, back to Tomodachi Life! Did you see the trailer for the switch game they're making? I'm so fucking hyped! I hope they actually make characters able to be gay though, since if you wanted to make your characters gay you still had to have a boy+girl couple. Was kind of annoying having to make one 'the boy' or 'the girl' when you wanted to make your gay ships.
I've also been using my 3DS as a step counter, been getting a lot of coins to trade for heroes and puzzle pieces. Would be getting more if there wasn't a cap on how many you can get in a day though.
Obligatory kitty-pics!
For ages Njord has been chewing on a cardboard box where I stored my ziplock bags, and recently I had to move the bags cus she's, well. She's completely decimated the box. It's mostly bottom and a little bit of sides left now. I'm letting her keep it until it's completely side-less. In the meantime she's also gotten a new box to chew on. I see her sitting in either spot in the mornings, chewing cardboard. She likes the cronch.
The photo of Kalma was taken when I came home from work and I spotted a black blob on one of the fields when I was on my home from work, I park and go to look, and call Kalma's name to see if it was him or Tofi's black cat. It was Kalma! He came running from two fields over, chatting with me the entire time. He's very good at talking. Then we walked inside together and he hung out with me for a while. He's a good boy, most of the time.
On a completely different topic, look what I got!
661 (pronounced Roroy, from the series Show By Rock) is so cute, I got a bunch of stuff from him off a japanese second hand site (don't remember which one atm). I love the sleepy little acrylic stand, it's actually part of a matching set with the rest of his bandmates, and he has matching pjs with his twin 659 (Rocoku), 659's pjs being purple instead of pink. Their fuzzy cardigans have detailing with each others' colours too, it's adorable. And the pillow has oden, their favourite food on them!
I caught Njord bullying him this moring though, trying to shove him off the window sill next to the bed to get me to get out of bed before my alarm went off. Lil meany.
I also got my hands on the FULL series Happy Boys, for a really good price, too. I've been trying to chase down some TV shows online but there's so many dead links. This show came out in 2007, so it's been a while... So I'm really glad I found it! There's so many Tenimyu boys in it, damn. I mean, that's why I watched it in the first place, way back when. I only got them two days ago so I'm not that far into my rewatch yet, but I'm really enjoying it.
Now I just gotta chase down some more DVDs for some other shows... I've got my eye on one, unfortunately it's not at as great of a bargain, but still! We love physical media in this house! When you stream/buy online it can be taken away just like that!!! I actually had that happen with a manga I bought digitally, they just. took it away, even though I paid for it. It's why I prefer Itch over Steam when it comes to video games.
This diary entry has taken me several days to write, oof. Also it got so long...
