Starting off by mentioning something I forgot to write about in the last entry. The gig I went to! I saw two local bands (aka from my province) perform at the end of December. The opening act was a band called Granit, I wasn't familiar with them but I really enjoyed them.
I had heard of the main act, Mondaine, though, they've played on the radio before, and this gig was to celebrate the release of their first EP. They played a few songs that are still unreleased as well, so we got a sneak peek on what's to come.
Excuse the shakiness of the video, I was standing pretty close to the stage so I was basically vibrating lol.
It's pretty difficult to take photos of people when they're moving. I'm not even that good at taking selfies, even worse at taking them of others, and when they're in the middle of moving? So hard to get everyone to turn out in focus and avoiding someone getting blurred. Ah well. I think the photo of the empty stage turned out well at least.
Okay, maybe I should go on and talk about things that's actually happened this year now.
Last week I was on my way to the boiler room to fill the boiler with wood, as you do, when I slipped on the ice and fell right on my ass. It hurt like a motherfucker, but at least I didn't break anything, and I didn't hit my head. I was shaking really badly afterward though, which was an issue cus I was supposed to be streaming literally less than 10 minutes later.
So I had to cancel that stream.
I was so sore for days after, I had to call quits on some other IRL stuff as well. It was a chore to just clean the cats' litter boxes. My right arm especially was very bruised, which I count as lucky, as I'm left-handed. Silver lining?
But I managed to heal up just in time for something I've been hyped about for ages; I'm finally taking a pole dancing class! I'm so damn excited about it. I had my first class this week, and it was really difficult but a lot of fun.
I took a try-out class a few years ago, signed up right after... and then the pandemic hit and it was cancelled. So I'm really glad I'm getting around to it now. The class ended up being really small too, so the teacher had plenty of time to help everyone, which is really nice.
I was less sore the day after than I expected. I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle, I mostly just go on walks (haven't been to the gym in years), so I expected to be feeling worse than I did. We'll see if I can say the same once I get further into the course.
I obviously don't have any photos from the class, so here's a photo from the farm I took earlier this month instead. Snowy.
Less fun has been the fact that my sleeping meds have stopped working. I wake up more than a dozen times a night, on top of how long it takes for me to fall asleep in the first place, which is making me so damn tired all the time. I've had insomnia for more than half my life, and just when I thought I'd found a solution for it? It stops working. Really frustrating. I'm gonna have to get in contact with my doctor again. I feel like I do nothing but talk to her about this, that or the other.
So yeah, I'm taking it out on Lucifer with a doodle. Give the little king my insomnia instead, thank you.
Here's hoping the code works okay once I actually implement it, sometimes I've had it work on the text page on my site, but when I paste the exact same code in the correct html file it breaks. Why internet why?
Can you tell it was inspired by livejournal/dreamwidth? As well as this adorable old code by someone I know I found through one of the sites I follow here, will update asap with links. (FOUND IT! Also heavily inspired by Lovely Designs' Strawberries layout.)
I started off new years way better than how my Christmas went; I spent all Christmas eve with a migraine so bad I had to hug a puke bucket (though I did fortunately not puke). Such a pity considering the day had been so nice up til around 16-17 when my head started to hurt.
Last night however was nice, I spent about 5 hours streaming, most of it spent finishing my annual holiday-themed Mars Red fanart (4 years and counting - I'm not super happy with the result but that's what you get for leaving it to the last minute and also doing something in a way that's kinda new to you), though my computer bluescreened when I started drawing? I don't know why, when I went to the device manager or whatever it's called in English (despite Astral Party refusing to work when not set to English, I refused to change it just because of a buggy game - and it seems like they finally fixed it, so I can play it again!) nothing has any exclamation marks or anything else weird. I'm still a bit worried cus I literally did a factory reset just a couple of months ago and Microsoft has made it so hard to not automatically connect to onedrive. Just let me have my old school user acconut with my shit on the actual computer, thanks.
Last little bit of 2024 I spent with my twin brother Tofi. I brought some mulled wine to enjoy while watching what fireworks we could see (not super many considering my status as a countrybumpkin) and I got a lot of snow in it. Was still nice though, even though I don't like cold mulled wine. We actually got some proper snow right at the tail end of the year too! So the last snowfall of the year was also technically the first of the very same year. We've had tiny bits that didn't stick only so far this winter.
Today I went to brunch with a couple of friends of a friend (when does a friend's friend become a friend?), but it turned into a thing that lasted almost all day. We may or may not have started to work on a 1000-piece puzzle. We got pretty far on it before I had to leave. Gotta go home and tend to the boiler so there's heat and warm water and all that. I had a really nice time.
I made a dress for Christmas, but since I didn't get to enjoy a lot of the eve I wore it to brunch again today. I made matching bows for me and my cats in the same fabric too. I still have a little bit left over that I might make a mini skirt out of? We'll see.
My dumbass accidentally cut the front of the dress upside down (don't ask me how I managed that) so the colour of the front and back looks different. I'm not remaking it again though, I'm not that good with stretchy fabrics. I used the same pattern as for my latest Super Sonico cosplay, only it's not quite as booby and not quite as short. Just to be nice to my grandparents. I do so love a dress with a lot of boob.
Tbh I kinda wanna find a winter con to wear this dress as Sonico. I love cosplaying her so much. I need to do it more often.
